The priest finishes his talk with a question.
"While Edestekai impessive with your technology,
how you say Servants of
Gods trick us when Priests have True Visions? You blasphemy religion
Edestekai?!"
At this moment, Raliegh mumbles something then leaves
the building. Brenon's guess was that he was going to get some fresh air.
He turns to address the priest.
"No my friend, we in no way blasphemy your religion.
We respect your religion, that is why we have comehere. To free your people
from the persecution of the pirates and to relay to you what they have
done to your priests....... the pirates have placed devices similar to
this one <Brenon points to his comm unit> inside the heads of the your
priests. Then the pirates; when they wish something of you, speak into
their comm unit pretending to be a God. They are not servants of
God. They are enslavers, manipulators and sadists. In order to get this
device inside your heads, the Pirates open your heads via cutting it open,
place the device in your head. The close your head back up." Brenon was
hoping this may spark some recollection or something perhaps a period where
a priest would dissapear and have his head hurting for a few days or something.....
It was at this point that Raliegh came in with the Prisoner. Much to Brenon's
surprise...and even more to his surprise when Raliegh unholstered his pistol
and aimed it at the head of the prisoner. Brenon's eyes widened.... "Ok
thug, Ive heard about enough of your groups victimizing of these aliens.
Fess up or these guys will get to see what the 'servants to the gods' brains
look like!" Raliegh Said. "Hold on Raliegh...."
Then Payne came to the rescue and talked Raliegh down. 'Damn....' Brenon
thought. Raliegh was losing it. And Brenon needed Raliegh. Needed his usual
calm collectedness.'Perhaps it's the heat' Brenon told himself. A little
embarassed at the recent incident. Brenon returns his attention the priest
who seemed a little confused and worried. "My appologies friend, my comrade
here seems to have been affected by your planet's climate. A bit too hot
for him. The man on his knees is one of the people you call 'Servants of
God'... he was caught at another camp south of here. They were running
a mining facility there as well. That camp was much smaller than this one
but they enslaved those they could to do their bidding. Payne and BudReep
here were enslaved by the pirates at that facility <Brenon points to
both BudReep and Payne>" Brenon will wait to see what the priest has to
say now.
BudRREEPboopboopboop nods his pseudopate and stands,
bowing low to the
cleric. He squeals, "**EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKgurbleburbleburble
sssSQUAK
BeeeeeLCH blub blub blub blub WWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEETLE hip hip hip hiccup
BUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRP**," which is roughly translated by his polyvox:
"Your
eminence."
Bud stands up straight and attests to Brenon's words:
"**Eep SCREECHburp.**"
Again, his polyvox translates in a very proper Corporate accent, "It
is true
what my companion says. Mr. Payne and I were captured by these
men, who are
known by many names, not the least of which is 'sky devils'.
Our people call
them 'pirates,' in reference to ones who appropriate without right
the work
of another. These men have done just that to me personally, and
Mr. Payne,
and, I regret to inform you, to you [plural] as well. They have
enslaved
peoples from many differents lands and forced us against our will to
do their
bidding -- horrible, grueling, degrading labor under inhumane conditions.
Many innocents have been murdered at their hands -- my closest friends
included. In my land, my people respect a great philosopher named
*SCREECHburp* [the polyvox offers no translation] who once said, 'Slavery
is
a fate worse than death.' It is this fate that these 'pirates'
have forced
upon me, Mr. Payne, and many many others, including your people."
[(OOC) JEFF: I'd like to use my Charisma-enhanced PER attribute during
this
soliloquy to convince the priest that we're not blaspheming and that
we are
telling him the truth.]
Bud bows respectfully and sits, allowing Brenon to continue.
The prisoner, answering Raleigh's initial prodding,
speaks as well. "Kill these infidels! Can't you see they are demons! Save
me and your gods will look down on you with joy!"

There is quite a stir amongst the Edestekai in the room. The
priest utters something so quickly, along with a puzzling display of arm
gestures, that the poly-vox does not give adequate translation. Two of
the Edestekai rush from the room. The priest looks to the group and speaks
excitedly.
"Everyone stays down you where at!" The priest looks
around, shuffling on his 3 legs. It is clear he is flustered. He glances
to the few other Edestekai in the room, who look among each other with
equal confusion. The 2 Edestekai in the room with spears hold them at a
ready state, not sure who is telling the truth, but ready for whatever
may happen. The priest continues after several long moments of frustration.
"You!" He points to Brenon. "You release him!" he instructs, pointing to
the bound prisoner. "You make comfortable...Bottom of Edestekai we will
get with this. Priests with True Visions coming soon. You make comfortable
everyone talk comfortable! No tie up in front Edestekai priest! Do it now!"
Brenon curses under his breath and turns to face
the prisoner, pig-tied on the floor. Brenon glances to Zhirrzh, who gives
a low snarl. Brenon leans down, Raleigh as well, to the prisoner and begins
to untie the man, who winks at Brenon with a smirk.
"You try anything and I'll shoot you down before
you get to the door myself. Damned these Edestekai or not," Brenon whispers
as he yanks roughly on the prisoners arms as he finishes freeing him.
Moments later a small party of Edestekai rush in,
preceded by three carrying pitchfork-looking tools. Two priest, identified
by the large purple bandana tied around their bodies, are the last to enter.
The dialogue between the three priest is fast and
expressive. The poly-vox does a poor job of translating, but it is clear
what is being discussed.
Finally, it is your turn. The new priests ask you
to tell your story again; they want to hear it from you. The team repeats
everything, the display of technology, the accusation of slavery. The priest
listen intently, occasionally whispering amongst themselves. BudReep takes
a large part in this new discussion - combat is something as distasteful
to him as to the Edestekai and he relates well with this new species.

The priests tell you to sit, and ask the prisoner to stand and give his story. He brushes himself off, takes a quick glance back to the team, gives an evil grin, and turns stoically back to the priests. "Priests of the Edestekai, do not listen to these demons with forked tongues. These devils attacked many of us, the holy war has begun between what is good and evil...." the prisoner shuffles around a bit, looking for more words. "The final test is here. Do not listen to these devils as they talk of your slavery. The gods look down on the Edestekai with great favor. You are doing well and your trials will soon end. This is your final test. To choose the side of your gods, or of these devils."

You can barely hold yourself
back while the pirate preaches his lies. After his rambling, Brenon stands.
"I can prove he is tricking you! You priests who have the True Visions,
do you remember when you were taken away by them? I shall show you the
scars of your implant!"
The priests' eyes widen. "We
were taken by Servants of Gods and slept, for Edestekai cannot look upon
eyes of the Gods...So we sleep....then we wake and have True Vision...........Show
us."
Brenon motions to Kah'liss.
"Kah'liss, you did the investigation in the lab. Show them."
The Vrusk approaches the priests,
reaches to the back of the the closest Edestekai's head, and asks permission
to adjust the bandanna. Once given the approval, he quickly finds the scar.
"Here. Here is where they put the comm device, one similar to what Brenon
and ZHirrzh have shown you this evening." The two priests crowd Kah'liss
out of the way, so eager they are to see the scar. Once the same scar is
found on the second priest, the bandanna-clad priests turn quietly to the
group. Their one eye seems to turn red, their brow bending down angrily.
With one loud yell, the poly-vox translates "BLASPHEMY!"
The prisoner turns to run,
but before even you can draw weapons, two Edestekai have tackled him and
pinned him down with their pitchforks. For several minutes the carrying
on of the Edestekai is often too loud. Screams, shrieks, wild gyrations.
Several Edestekai leave the room on command, new ones enter. You do not
interfere, and let the Edestekai ride this powerful emotion among themselves.
Knowing how deeply imbedded their religion is to their culture, you can
only imagine the anger and hatred they are experiencing.
After several minutes, the
head priest turns to your party and speaks with huffed breath, "May keep
we prisoner. Infidel tried and executed to be at Capital by <quickdeath>?!
-- We debted you for showing us truth. We fight infidel, free brothers.
You here to do this, Edestekai with you..."
OOC
Heh, kinda close there for
a minute or two.. Good job, they're pissed.
