Kahliss watches the operation go down with unexpected ease. It
was
amazing, watching the group in action ... it was almost like they had
been
doing this for years, instead of .. weeks?
He readies his rifle, holding it more firmly as
he prepared for the
unexpected. He follows closely behind Brenon, since it seemed
like a good
idea... and no one said he couldn't....
Brenon quietly instructs Zhirrzh on his role, "I
want you to slip in
using your suit and crete the doors to the living quarters...if you
encounter the robot try to get behind it and crete it as well... once
this
task(s) are done, chrono in to us and we'll proceed with the second
phase of
the operation... Phase II, Zhirrzh I want you back here with us we
don't
need any friendly fire... at this point we'll pair off with the Kurabandai,
2 Kurabandai to each one of us, we'll go room by room; grenading if
necessary and exterminating any remaining pirates.
Telgar, BudReeep and 2 Kurabandai will move to take
the power room
Myself, Kay'liss and 4 kurabandai will move to take
the radio/computer
rooms
Zhirrzh, Raleigh and 2 kurabandai will move to take
the com room
Lstayric and 2 Kurabandai will move to take the
Com Room
Understanding the objectives, Zhirrzh checks his
HoloScreen again and
rushes to the west door of the room...

LStaric shrieks. "Wait! There's an alarm!" Zhirrzh stops
short, turns to
the Vrusk. LStaric scuttles to the southern wall and points to a small
infrared security system a foot above the floor. A matching IR plate
was
embedded in the wall opposite. The trap identified, the team slides
a large
crate in front of the IR Beam. Stepping up on this box, it becomes
easy to
leap over the beam, leaving it undisturbed.
Rushing through the western door, Zhirrzh finds
himself in a storage
room, just at Amar described. This area contains shelves along both
the
north and south walls, and several small tables scattered about the
center
of the room. There are many large crates on the shelves and several
smaller
boxes and crates on the tables. Once the outpost is taken, Zhirrzh
muses,
this will probably replenish some supplies.
Once again, Zhirrzh is stopped at the western door.
It was locked.
Deactivating the HoloScreen, he motions to Raleigh, who once again
steps
forward with his Techkit.

"DAMN!" Raleigh hisses. Another minute passes and the door remains
locked.
Telgar places a reassuring arm on the disgruntled tech's shoulder.
"Calm down," Telgar whispers. "You can get in."
Eyeing the garage
through the eastern doors, watching for anything, Telgar glances to
Brenon.
"Give her a few more tries Raliegh, I've got faith
you can do it....." Brenon prods.
BudReeep, taking the time to ponder the current
situation, volunteers to stay within the explorer and guard it from
intruders, since he is too injured to venture into the compound and
engage in armed conflict.
Raleigh nods at the words of encouragement, glad
that even in moments of duress that the others were still calm and had
faith in him. Pointing at the lock, Raleigh curses softly, "Youre going
down you little *%$@#!!!"
Telgar smiles reassuringly at Raleigh, then readies
his rifle in the direction he expects the bot to approach. He looks at
the others to see if any of them had decided to cover the team as well.
"If we can't get the lock open then I think we'll
have to storm in and go via this entrance.... My team will take the further
hallway that parrellels the living quarters, Zhirrzh can meet up with us
there, Telgar's team will provide point for mine. The rest of you will
take the closer hallway parrelleling the Living Quarters, when given the
command I want both teams each side to lob a grenade into the living quarters
and exterminate the pirate scum.....we'll then proceed to move at each
our own discretion, moving from room to room....Raliegh, if things get
ugly I'll order a retreat, at which point I want your team to quickly back
off and rescue the prisoners and get them safely to the explorer...." Brenon
agrees to the Dralasite's suggestion; BudReeep will remain with the Explorer.

COBALT
Another long, arduous minute passed
before the metallic -cLinK- of
the unlocking door could be heard. Raleigh
sighs a silent apology and nods to the group, letting them know this next
obstacle was clear. It had been almost 4 minutes since Zhirrzh disabled
the camera. Had anyone noticed? Even though it was around 1:30am, the pirates
had to be on a higher alert, since half of them had been defeated only
hours before. Nothing to do now but proceed with plan and hope everything
works out. Zhirrzh activates the holo screen. The sturdy image of the Yazirian
fades to the wavery illusion of the HoloScreen. The illusion taps at the
door panel. When the door opens, Zhirrzh steps out into the corridor, crete
sprayer in hand.
Stepping out and turning left, Zhirrzh sees two
humans, one holding a Sonic Disruptor and one holding a laser pistol. The
two jerk back suddenly as the door opens and quickly raise their weapons.
The two are standing in the main hallway and it appears they have just
exited the Common Room. Further down the hall, near the far hallway, is
a third human. A second robot, identical to the first, is with him.

Zhirrzh himself is surprised at the near proximity
of the pirates. Equally so, and without your own team suffering from the
effects of surprise, the Pirates are taken aback at the opening door. The
only limiting factor is Zhirrzh, since he held the Crete sprayer. Immediately
dropping the slung sprayer, the Yazirian reaches down and pulls up his
assigned Needler Rifle to hand. He knows when a subject is actually looking
for a hidden Holo screen, and in a very limited area, the distortion is
easy to see. It would help against aiming accuracy, but in this small area,
walking out of a door that was just opened....well, the Frontier is waiting
on that HoloScreen v 3.0...

Well, now that it's started, just a FYI of what happened, a little behind the scenes, if you will. I rolled each time Raleigh failed, as a time unit, an Intuition check of the Pirate that was in the computer room. You make Intuition checks to see if you detect something out of the ordinary. Since one of those monitors was static, it was a valid check. It being so early, I rolled with a penalty. But he realized the monitor was out at the beginning of Raleigh's final attempt (if only it took one LESS roll). Seeing the monitor was static, but that the IR alarm had not been tripped, he just tapped the intercom and alerted the 2 pirates in the Common Room. Asked for them to check it out. He knew they were there, and he didn't want to disturb the others who were sleeping, as it may be nothing. They had just gathered a few weapons and were in the hallway when Zhirrzh opened the door.....
I'm stopping here, to see what you want to do from this point. I hate stopping every few seconds, and as you know (BudReeep, you'll find out), when a combat gets going I usually keep rolling until everyone's dead :) But I want to be sure we're on the same page and I don't want to assume anything. Check the picture again, I just added the retreating arrows of the pirates path.
What you do next, only strategy and the luck of the die will tell.... :)
BTW, Kah'liss, if you want to update your character sheet to reflect
the data I have, it is here.
