    As Zhirrzh, Brenon, and Telgar strip down to shake the frenzied biting fleas off, the wails of the Kurabanda become even louder. As the three begin to take stock of the room, seeing the amused faces of BudReeep, Payne, and Raliegh, the three begin to see the picture. Kah'liss shows the only sign of slight concern, but soon it is apparrent that these biting fleas are nothing but another Kurabanda joke. Soon Linduianna, one of the warriors that journeyed to the outpost, staggers in, chuckling, and presents a large bowl of a white flour-like mixture. Zhirrzh takes the powder and immediately dowses himself in it. The biting fleas drop dead almost instantly. The yazirian lets a low growl as he passes the bowl to the others. In moments the frenzied fleas are dead on the hut of the floor.
    "You funny," Linduianna offers as a few other snorting Kurabanda enter the hut. "You jump....20 feet....in ceiling," the Kurabanda continues, which is followed by another round of laughing, this time more of your own team join in.
    Damn Kurabanda, is all that Brenon can focus his mind on thinking.

    An hour later, with BudReeep, Telgar, Zhirrzh, Brenon, and Payne armed with bows, arrows, and a glider, the hunting party (20 Kurabanda) leaves the village and begins the trek to the south. A group of 20 additional Kurabanda come along to help haul the prey back, should the hunt be a success. Kah'liss tells Raleigh to stop acting like a hatchling. The vrusks reminds him he is still in bad shape and needs this rest and attention. Raliegh lets Payne borrow his skeinsuit, since they will be near the shard plains and TJ could use it more than he.
    After an hour's hike through the forest, the party comes to the edge of the trees. It was always dizzying to come to the edge of the forest - you realize how high in the trees you actually are. Since the extreme growth of the Bachanda trees prohibits ground travel, you've become accustomed to travelling across the large branches high in the air. While the trees had been growing increasingly thinner on the floor, and would have easily granted ground access for the last half mile, the Kurabanda continued among the branches to the forest's edge. Now you stand 40 meters high, overlooking the vast shard plains to the south. Euromada comes up to the three of you, and invites you to the edge of a particular branch. BudReeep is lead with the ground crew towards the forest floor, and he wishes you a bellowing good luck. The membranes which serve as the Dralasite's eyes, however, show sorrow, and it is obvious that the Dralasite disagrees with the killing which will soon occur. Having lived with the Kurabanda for quite a while, he knew dealing with such atrocities was a matter of his own survival.
    The Rollers are easy to pick out at your height. About 600 meters to the south, Euromada points out the herd of about 10 Rollers, which from this distance look exactly like elephants of the human homeworld. Their namesake is obvious as you can make out the wide path of shard grass they have flattened in their grazing. They have "rolled" their way through the shard plains.
    "You, want test glide?" Euromada asks. "Roller com soon close. Test glide now."
    Brenon nods, gesturing to Zhirrzh, Telgar and Payne to put their gliders on. You do so apprehensively, hoping this first leap from the tree will not be your last. But apparently these Kurabanda do these hunts all the time, so there's no real reason to doubt the glider's functionality. Still, it was the Kurabanda.
    As nearby Kurabanda help the last of these strange creature's gliders on, the human leader turns to the others. "Feels kinda like a glijet, huh?" Those with the experience agree, and Brenon, giving Zhirrzh the thumbs up, is the first to leap from the tree. Zhirrzh follows with Telgar and Payne giving a few moments for the air to clear before taking their own plunge.
    Although the glider is a  bit shaky at first, the wind in your face and the floor far below brings an exhillerating rush of adrenaline. Zhirrzh especially feels at home as he soars above the air. You soon notice that the Volturnian sun above has made the plains hot, giving occasion to hit an updraft and send your glider souring higher into the air. No wonder the Kurabanda have adopted this form of hunting the Rollers.  The heat below can keep a hunter in the air quite a while. In one instance, Payne shoots nearly 150 meters into the air. Occasional downdrafts of win hit you as well, bringing the glider down at a quicker pace. But the heat of the plains below seem to overcome.

[DieRoll Everyone - Dexterity - Controlling the Glider]
    Telgar - 95    FAIL Reaction Speed Check = 35    PASS
    Zhirrzh +10 Dex Modifier  - 52   PASS
    Brenon - 88    FAIL    Reaction Speed Check = 45 PASS
    Payne - 33 PASS

    Once, an unexpected blast of wind seems to knock both Brenon's and Telgar's gliders out of the sky, but after a sharp drop in altitude, they pull back into control. Soon all pilots grow accustomed to their gliders and take to trying out spirals and other dexteritous tricks.
    After a few minutes above the plains, the 4 gliders float down to the forest floor. None needing use of the safety nets, the Kurabanda and BudReeep congratulate you on your quick learning. Now, they tell you, is the real fun.
    It is another hour before the Rollers move close enough to launch the attack. At about 100 meters away, the Kurabanda order the attack. Armed with 50 arrows each, these 15 Kurabanda (not counting the 5 on the ground) launch from the branches. You've determined that without an up or downdraft, you can travel about 50 meters horizontally for every 10 meters you fall. 100 meters would be the closest the Rollers could get to the forest edge before an attack could be launched, arrows fired, and the gliders returned to the forest edge before crashing into the shard grass.
    A group of 5 Kurabanda are the first to jump, Euromada leading them. As they cruise silently toward the unsuspecting Rollers, the team takes their positions as the second wave. You see that the updraft launches the first group into the air, up to 80 meters. With only one Kurabanda in their group, Brenon, Telgar, Zhirrzh, and Payne leap from the branches in the second wave.
    Thirty meters over the plains, a downdraft hits your group. Dropping you to a height of 20 meters, you can't help but get a bit nervous. Gliding in circles at the forest edge was one thing, but you sure didn't want to crash into the shard plains.

I will keep each team's altitude in this simple chart below for each turn. (I do this because if you are forced to the ground, I can roll damage based on the shard plain, or determine if you are close enough to land in the Roller Path).

Vertical Distance to Rollers: 50m
                       Group 1  (80m)
                       Team (20m)           Group 3 (20m)

Rollers                         SHARD PLAINS                     FOREST

[Turn 2]

    You notice again that the first team continues to ride the updraft, and they sour almost out of bow range. Luckily you hit the same updraft, and you too rise into the air. You notice, unfortunately, that the third group misses your updraft and instead hit another downdraft. These five Kurabanda steer themselves straight into the Roller path and land quietly. A nearby Roller jerks his head and trots away at the new arrivals, but settles down 20 meters from them. You see the grounded Kurabanda quickly pull large machetes and begin hacking through the plains, trying to get quickly off of the Roller Path. You feel sorry for them, as you know you wouldn't want to hack your way 100 meters back to the forest floor.  As you rise above the Rollers, the Kurabanda in your group sours nearby, laughing at the unfortunate group on the ground. Once his laughing fit is over, he announces, "Pindaggro go back forest...wra wra wra on gound. We shoot....Roller run...don run Roller in Pindaggro  wra wra wraaa Pindaggro be mad very  wra wra wra!!" With that, The Kurabanda veers his glider towards the Roller Path, bow in hand, and makes the first shot in the hunt.
    The four of you follow suit. Knowing the Rollers will stampede, you follow the Kurabanda's lead and direct fire to draw them away from Pindaggro and his group of grounded Kurabanda.
    The Kurabana in your group (named Lomanada) fires the first shot of the hunt. He picks out a smaller of the herd and fires.

Brenon  = 65
Telgar    = 28    YELLOW    2 damage

    Seeing the storm of arrows, the Rollers begin howling. Some trot around in circles, unsure where to go, but the continuing rain of arrows drives them in a northwesterly direction.

[TURN 3]
    The updrafts continue, but both groups continue to follow the retreating Rollers.

Vertical Distance to Rollers: 0m

Rollers         Group 3        SHARD PLAINS             FOREST

    You continue soaring over the plains, firing at the weakened Roller. After four  minutes in the air, you cheer when you see the weakened Roller collapse. You also take impressive note that the Kurabanda did good job to drive the prey to the plain's edge before it fell. Not only are you near the forest edge, but there will not be much hacking through the plains to reach the Roller.
    Amid the cheers of the Kurabanda on the forest floor, you all land back into the lower branches of the forest.

You get up to two rolls - Dexterity and Reaction Speed, to land safely in the trees.
[DieRoll Everyone]
Brenon DEX=62 FAIL    RS= 13    LANDED SAFELY
Payne    DEX= 60                            LANDED SAFELY
Telgar    DEX= 36                            LANDED SAFELY
Zhirrzh    DEX= 84 (fail)  RS= 74

    Everyone lands safely in the lower branches. As Zhirrzh prepares for his descent, Brenon watches as the Yazirian smoothly glides in. Suddenly, a large gust of wind picks up from the plains. The updraft quickly catches his wings, tossing his downward tilt into a somersault, bringing the yazirian into a vertical handstand position. He feebly tries to catch onto the branch, and Brenon leaps to the rescue as well, but it is too late. Zhirrzh plummets, crashing through a barrage of branches.

[Safety Netting?]
Roll = 28

    Zhirrzh grits his teeth, hoping the bulky glider will catch in the branches. However, he knew the lower branches of the Bachanda trees were not as thick, and the only thought that went through his mind was him hitting the forest floor head first.
    He lands hard, but immediately bounces up. The mixed laughing and cheers confirm Zhirrzh's final wishes - he hoped the safety crew on the ground saw him coming. Sliding out of the glider (he was half-way out from the fall), he lands on his back and sees the grinning faces of Kurabanda, those holding the net. He also sees the familiar pseudopod of a Dralasite. "BadlaPeeg Rudddeek", BudReeep says, the Poly Vox quickly translating "Nice Fall!"

    Over the next hour, you also learn another impressive tidbit of Kurabanda know-how. Using ropes and quickly fastened pulley systems, you assist in heaving the 2,000 pound young into the trees. Once in the branches, however, you realize nothing scientific will easily get the Roller back to the village, which lies perhaps 2 kilometers to the North. However, you relax a bit when discovering the hunters do not do so; the additional 20 Kurabanda which joined the party are left to haul the animal back.

    Chief Auramada is very impressed with the return of the hunting party and calls a feast for the evening. He says he is very grateful for the team that helped rid them of the "Demons from the Sky", and their hunting prowess earns them the respect for any Kurabanda. He awards each of you many small gifts, which include bowls of berries, small carved trinkets, and much beaded jewelry.

Meanwhile, during the hunt, Raleigh spent the day trying to recover from his wounds.

    Kah'liss clicks his madibles together in frustration. "Your vital signs are weak, my friend. You need continued rest, and I will be able to do more tomorrow. You are stabilized now, but I know you are still weak. I cannot give you any more Biocort today or your body will reject it."

OOC

  The feast is fun as always, and you have a good time. Anything you say about the Star Devil at the "Slave City One", the Kurabanda absolotely do not care. The Outpost was far enough away for them, and no argument you can make convinces Chief Auramada to send a contigent with you some 550 kilometers away.

As far as travelling goes, Raleigh needs 1-2 days more before he'll be 100% again.

Any other RP you want to continue on, do so, and then come up with any of your future plans...

ABout the Hunt
I rolled it out until the updrafts brought you so high into the air there really was no possibility of you crashing into the ground. At that point I just played out that you made the hunt. Since the only damage that could have fallen you was in your landing (or crashing), those updrafts saved me from having to roll 100 times. I'm sure you wouldn't have wanted to wade through all of that anyway, especially with the possibility of any of your damage being NIL.
