Brenon watched as his shot hit home and the scout copter exploded, sending fragments in every direction. He looked down quickly to see
Zhirrzh and Kah'liss both downed by the enemy fire. Zhirrzh would be alright, Brenon had seen him take worse. But Kah'liss... damn, you could
see the Grim Reaper hunkering over him.... waiting. Brenon was about to shout to Raliegh to bring up some medical supplies, but Raliegh beat
him to it and had already begun his ascension into the rocks; carrying the precious med kit.
Brenon communicates to Telgar via commlink, "Telgar, see what you can do to make a bedding area for Zhirrzh and Kah'liss, both were injured
pretty badly. Kah'liss looks pretty bad, he may not make it."

Kah'liss twisted, moving as far from the copter's view as he could. He rolled and dodged, then heard a loud explosion. Unable to risk pulling out
to see it, his thoughts drifted to the possibility that it was the Explorer. This was bad, very bad. His entire body ached from the severity of the
wound. He tried his best to keep any blood that might still be escaping. Thank goodness that most lasers cauterized. He grits his mandibles in
pain. Very bad...

Episode I: The Phantom Hemorrhage

Kah'liss looks amongst the members of the Medi Council. "The Force is unusually strong in this boy. I sense much possibility."

Moda says, "Think he is the one, do you?"
Kah'liss says, "He could be..."
Moda says, "Not think, believe. Said it, you did."
Kah'liss says, "Yes, I believe he is the one."
Moda says, "Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. Too old is he."
Kah'liss says, "Others have been trained when older than this .. boy."
Moda grimaces, "Yes, but much fear and hatred, sense I. Clouded is his future. Dangerous to all."
Kah'liss says, "Then let me be his Master, let me take him as my apprentice. I can train him in the ways of the Medi."

Moda says, "No. Dangerous is he. Filled with fear and hate. Images of a woman, he dwells."
Kah'liss says, "I will train him, with or without the Council's approval."
Moda sighs, shakes his head, and then says, "His apprentice, he may be. Approval, the council gives. But dark is the road."

And so, Medi Doc Kah'liss gained the young apprentice of Raleigh...

End OOC break

Raleigh pushes himself up the rocks, haphazardly darting from one outcropping to the next in an effort
to get to Kahliss as quickly as possible. His legs burning in protest, finally he makes the top and
crouches next to his fallen comrade.
Seeing the Kahliss was still barely concious, Raleigh smiles and assures his friend that everything
woll be ok.
"It's a damn good thing you showed me a few things before you decided to go and get shot up huh?!" The
injury was bad, with the front quarter of Kahliss' carapace being badly melted and damaged. Raleigh acted
as quickly as he dared, mentally running through the checklist that Kahliss had had him memorize.

Zhirrzh patiently lays against the rocks, waiting for the medical attention he knows he needs.

Telgar sees the chopper go down and hit the ground with an explosion as the Explorer is made to head back to the rock formation. He watches
the flaming ball of metal and is sure that no one could've survived that. Making sure his pistol is set to 2 SEU, he places a firm grip onto the
weapon... no time to be taking chances. As he watches the wreckage for signs of survivors, Telgar can't help but be anxious to see how the
group was doing.

He makes a note of the tactics used in this battle so that he can come back to them later and study them. His profession demanded constant
renewing and perfecting of one's strategy. The penalty for failyor almost always ended in death.

Feeling a small pain in his inner chest, Telgar's mind is brought back to the moment. Kah'Liss!! He knew that something bad happened and now
he had to make it up there to his friend. As the Explorer begins to stop, Telgar pockets his pistol, leaps out, and ambles up the formation as
quickly as he can. Just as he arrives, he hears Brenon snap out orders... this was bad... very bad. For the moment, he ignores Brenon's orders
and rushes to KahLiss's side.

"Is it bad?" he asks, ignoring the obvious site in front of him. "Why the hell didn't you stay under cover!?"

Kahliss heard a voice ... oh .. a familiar voice ... he mumbled at the stupid shadow in front of the light. "I hid, huc'hac'har'hed. How
het hut hof hhe hight... Hit has ho hetty. ... Halways Hin He Hay..."

"Damn..." Telgar mutters. "You realize what will happen if you don't make it... You have to make it through this buddy. What the hell
are we going to do without a medic?" Telgar attempts a smile, but fails. "Does anyone know enough to help stabilize
Kah'Liss?! Kah'Liss, after you get back on your feet, I am restricting you to non-combative situations.. and that's this
doctor's orders..."

Kahliss grumbles inwardly. Shard it all...that voice kept making sense. He did have to make it. Sure, Raleigh was doing well at his
studies, but he wasn't a medic by any means. Give him and scalpel and you were more likely to end up with deli meats as you were
to get a working being back. Which reminded him ... Raliegh had better not attempt surgery ... First Aid, FIRST AID. "Pert Raid.
PERT RAID."

Odd how with all he and Telgar had been through, this was the first time he had been truly hurt. Badly at that. There was that time
on Talkonis when they had attempting to rescue that one girl for a nominal fee ... one did what one needed when strapped for
credits. Even then he had managed to make it out unscathed. Of course, Telgar /had/ taken the hit for him ... it really hadn't been
much of a wound .. really...

"I'll be back in just a minute, Kah'Liss. Zhirrzh needs my help now...."
As Telgar rushes to help Zhirrzh by preparing a bed for him, he can't help but wonder what will happen to this group of explorers if
Kah'Liss were to die. If only there was another way to keep the signal operating... but then again, that was the point of the whole
cursed contraption - there wasn't. The corporations would surely find their position on this planet, if they weren't constantly
monitoring them anyway, and proceed to take out the last threat to their precious commerce empire... Telgar wasn't so concerned
about himself, but it was the group.... Everything had gone badly on this trip from the very start. First the miss jump in hyperspace,
then the pirates, the crash landing, the death of Lyrium and Rolgar, and now Zhirrzh and Kah'Liss's major injuries.

It must have been only months ago that the fortune teller had said "You will soon take a trip to which you will never return". It was
such a general saying, especially in a starport, that he hadn't leant it any credit, but now he wondered what would've happened if
would've just declined this mission. I felt most regretful for the group and not telling them what they were taking on by having
Kah'Liss and himself in the expedition. Hopefully, it wouldn't come to that.

"Well, it's not the penthouse sweet, but it'll do for now: Telgar says as he readies Zhirrzh's bed, his face not reflecting the frustration
underneath.

Frantically, Raleigh works at stabilizing his Vruskmentor. Not really comfortable his new abilities, especially on Vrusk anatomy, nevertheless he
pressedon.

Despite the tension of the moment, his mind seemedto wander anyway, as if satisfied to allow reflexesand training take over. He thought back to
past missions, how he had watched as the team medic triedto save injured comrades, even in the heat of battle. How that one time Rokio, the
team medic, had tried to save Draggen, the teams heavy gunner, from his wounds.

The grenade had hit nearly right on top of poor Drake and the shrapnel opened him up like a biology experiment...innards hanging out and
everything. What really shocked Raleigh was that Draggen never made asound. He just lay there, staring up at the sky while Rokio tried to
perform the miracle that everyone knew he couldn’t. Finally, Draggen gave one last breath and then never blinked again...Rokio actually cried
thattime.

Something snapped at Raleigh, bringing him back tothe moment. Local anesthetic for the pain, Biocort to help the body heal, plastiflesh for the
burn areas, and Omnimycyn for infections. Satisfied that he had done all he could, Raleigh called for Telgar. Once Telgar reached his position,
Raleigh handed him a Staydose injection. "If he flatlines, give him this and then give me a holler." With that Raleigh ascends the rock to
Zhirrzh's position, ready to do the same.

Not bad, Raleigh muses to himself as he finishes bandaging Kah’liss up. The Vrusk even nods his approval. Excellent work. Kah’liss
felt better, although he wasn’t ready to run a marathon. He knew things would be alright. He looks to Zhirrzh and motions Raleigh to
work the first aid on him.

Zhirrzh’s current Stamina is 19

Kah’liss nods to himself, indeed impressed as he watches Raleigh perform the first aid on the Yazirian. He eagerly thinks ahead,
already busying his mind in how he will teach Raleigh the more complicated aspects of the medical vocation.

Referee’s Note:

Only Wounds I can be used on one person per day, but Kah’liss can continue with the higher forms of medical treatment. Since his
Stamina is still below half, there will be some penalties, but he can still try. Medics can also work on themselves. There is a certain
tool in every medkit that allows that.

Good rolls there Raleigh, you made a teacher proud  :)
