Zhirrzh, I do not have you as carrying IR goggles, so explains the -1CS
penalty. When you RP the next turn, take into account the smoke. Check
the pic of Deck 1
Also, Merry Christmas everyone! I'm leaving town Wednesday and probably
won't check email again until Saturday or Sunday. Any questions you have,
I'll probably answer them by Wednesday...
Raleigh's beltpack just ran out --- After your last shots, you are now empty on your beltpack, which is where your pistol was plugged in. You still have a pack, but you specified the pistol was on the beltpatck.

Brenon turns to Zhirrzh,
"Watch the door, i wanna grab a few
grenades from the shuttle....". Not waiting
for a response, Brenon
promptly turns and rushes to the shuttle,
scrounging for a few extra grenades.
.....
Raleigh waited just long enough to hear the broken
returns...damn,
didnt work. Looking to Telgar he gives the thumbs down.
Telgar nods
in understanding, takes a few breaths to relax himself, and opens the
hatch above him. Quickly he lobs the smoke grenade onto deck
one and
closes the hatch.
"Clink, clink, clink...WHUMP!!! The fight was one. Raleigh
waited
below Rolgar nervously as he watched Telgar burst through the opening
in the ceiling and take up position to fire, Rolgar was already
clammering up the ladder. The sounds of laser rifle fire and
screams
of death echoed through the ship as Raleigh hit the ladder and began
to scale. As he reached the top a body flew by him to the right
and
tackled Rolgar, it was a Vrusk. Raleigh quickly rolled away from
the
porthole and came up, guns ready, and then he was hit.
Two hits of searing laser fire slammed him back and to the floor.
He remembered falling backward for an eternity, the sounds of battle
only a faint din in the distance. Crashing to the floor his head
impacted solidly on the hard metal deck, although his vision blurred
severely, he didnt feel it at all. He only could lay there, staring
at the dimmed lights overhead, listening to the screams of Rolgar as
he fought for his very life against the Vrusk.
Raleigh began to drift again, his memories of the past, his
family.
He could feel the gash in the back of his head now, although it didnt
hurt now he knew it would later if he survived...and thats when he
felt it. The tangler grenade had been at his belt and somehow
jarred
free and rolled next to his hand. He thumbed the pin, gripped
his
other laser pistol tightly with the other hand and prepared for the
inevitable.
With slurred speech, he mumbled into his headset...
"Zhirrzh, need your help here, were losing..."Things again felt like
they were spinning...
Telgar is then hit by an stun weapon.
His mind wanders through the place known as the
dream plane.
Through the blurry images he sees distorted shapes in the distance.
The
images becomes clearer and form into space craft in orbit around a
large
planet. He sees a thought pass by (was it possible to see thoughts,
he
wondered?). It merely said "Dawn". I series of electrical
currents pass
through him and he is back on Pale looking for a drink. Two dark
figures
enter the room. He looks at their faces... empty. The space
crafts move.
Three smaller ones attached to a larger one. All moving toward
a cruiser of
some sort. Kah'Liss leans over to Telgar in an office building
and says,
"Did you know my brothe-... the thought fades. The cruiser is
now a giant
fish swimming in space. The dark figures walk closer. Telgar
yells, "Who
are you?! Wait... it can't be-..." The planet explodes,
the large craft
has a sign that says "nwaD", the dark men disappear, Kah'Liss is holding
something. "...You didn't think it would last forever, did you?"
Kah'Liss
shows Telgar a document. Telgar falls downward. The images
collide and
spiral with him. He fades back to the blackness of unconsciousness...
A dozen thoughts suddenly exploded in Zhirrzh's head.
Losing? How? There was only supposed to be one left. How can they be losing?
What happened to Nayden? Is /anything/ going right? Thought after thought
raced through Zhirrzh's mind, lasting less than a second. He had made up
his mind.
"I'm abandoning this position. If they're getting
beat, then the Deck 2 enemy is now part of the Deck 1 enemy."
Not missing a beat, he resets his pistol at 5SEU
and walks toward the airlock. As he goes, he shouts back over his shoulder.
"Kah'Liss, get the khest out of that shuttle and
get to the hatch. If I can, I'll be sending you some patients. Be ready
to treat them or rush up the hatch if I can't send them down. Raleigh's
team wasn't in good shape when they decided to take Deck 1."
As he waits for the airlock to open, he addresses
Brenon. "I could sure use some backup."
Kah'liss listens to the sounds of the fight ...
and the screams. Finally, his conscious can no longer stand the torture.
The scales have tipped, and the reasons for the contination of his present
activities have become unweighed by the needs of the members on the upper
decks. His nimble fingers quickly undo the dead man's switch.
"You two may need to move fast if you desire to
provide adequete cover for your friends, the bridge, and I." He says matter-of-factly,
as if he had always been going up there. He grabs the medical supplies
in one hand, and a laser pistol in the other. He realizes that the
space suit and the skien suit underneath are not going to make for ease
of movement ... but hopefully it will protect him.
He looks over at Lyrium. "Now might be an
appropriate time to join us in helping your friends, or for holding the
location here. However, it is more probable, as Zirrzh has stated,
that the landing party for this deck has already joined for the fight on
the deck above, thus freeing the need to secure this location. Either
way, I have patients and friends in need."
He waits until everyone has left ... so he and his
bulky suit will have as much protection as he can be afforded...
Lyrium nods to Ka'liss' words and glances
around. She sighs deeply but
already seems to know what she is going to do. Checking her blaster
she
says, "Okay, lets do this.." she eyes those around her, thoughtful
for a
moment, "I know how to use this," she gestures to the weapon, "but
Im not
even close to an enforcer, should I go first?"
Zhirrzh chimes into his chrono. "Grynh, open our
hatch for me quick, we need through." The Engineer on the bridge quickly
obliges, and the airlock opens. Much faster than manually opening it.
The airlock opens, and Zhirrzh rushes through. He
hears the Lyrium's last words as he rounds the corner and dashes toward
the hatch.
"No." he shouts back. "Use the other hatch and hit
them from behind." Zhirrzh prepares to say more when he hears Raleigh's
plea. A new surge of anger built up in Zhirrzh, urging him to more speed.
Speaking into his chronocom again, he tries to keep the concern he feels
from creeping out. "Almost there, pal. Don't do anything stupid without
me." As he stepped into the hatch and began to climb, he couldn't help
but wonder if he was going to make it in time.
*** Meanwhile ***
Within a second of being struck in the head by the
Vrusk, Rolgar caught a
quick glimpse of Telgar's motionless body on the ground. Absorbing
the
impact with a grimace, Rolgar takes a step back and prepares for his
response. Quickly Contemplating his next move, Rolgar realizes this
is not
going as expected and their lives are
in serious jeopardy. He swingsthe butt of his rifle up toward the head
of the bastard Vrusk in hopes of taking him out of the picture. The
Vrusk was faster, however, and on him before he could pull the rifle up
to bear.

Raleigh lays motionless on the floor, everything
spinning around him
in a frenzy. The gash in his head was already beginning to hurt
and
judging from the warm feeling he had it was flowing strong.
His body weak and screaming in pain, Raleigh slowly
begins to crawl
away from the battle. The tangler and pistol still in his hands
did
not give him any confidence at all as he saw the battle was going
poorly for Rolgar already.
He respected the Yazirian now more than ever.
He could easily have
gotten away from the Vrusk and retreated to the safety of the decks
below but he held his ground, and was doing pretty well against a stun
weapon.
Their melee didnt seem to be going either way at
the moment but
Raleigh knew the charging humans would tip the scales dramatically.
Calling into his chronocom again he hoped his words
were not as faded
and slurred as they sounded...
"Zhirrzh? Brennon? Lyrium? Kahliss? In it bad...need support!"
*****
Zhirrzh rushes into the corridor as Raleigh's plea
comes to him. He grabs tangler in hand and leaps on the ladder leading
to Deck one, Brenon behind. Lyrium and Kah'liss quickly follow. As he climbs
and readys to toss the grenade, he hears laser fire from above. A thick
white smoke is beginning to ooze down the hatch opening.
*****
Raleigh could feel the edges of unconciousness swelling
around him. He
couldnt black out, Rolgar needed him now. Raleigh finally could
crawl
no more. He raised the pistol in his hand, leveling in the general
direction of the charging humans, squinting for aim he slowly
depressed the trigger...

A laser blast sizzles by the human nearest Raleigh, making contact. The invader stumbles back in obvious surprise. He had written Raleigh out of the fight already. The second human turns immediately to the sound of the laser blast. He readies his Sonic Stunner.

He gets another shot off, knocking his enemy roughly to the floor. He smiled to himself. Even through his blurred vision, he knew once again the battle has turned for them.
Zhirrzh pops his head from the hatch and notices the hustle of movement where the melee is raging. He lets the grenade fly and drops back down, waiting only for the familiar 'pop' of the tangler.

In a moment's time, both are now caught in the sticky web of the grenade.
He couldn't move, which, on the bright side, neither could the Vrusk. How
odd they must look, he muses quietly....
[OOC]
Well, you did it. I don't know how, but you did it. Way to save the
day, Raleigh, you...you...last breath savior. heh, I thought you were crazy
when you said you were going to fire the pistols. Lucky for you that you
won initiative that last turn, or it could have been drastically different.
Way to go everyone!!
