>with a little trepidation, "Do you have ... any 5's?"
> "Go Fish." Is the reply....
hahaha. :)
Also, some of you are sending to my address AND to the listbot; so I'm
getting duplicate messages. Rest assurred, I am on the listbot too,
so just
send to that address and both my home and work will receive. Thanks!
And about the death thing, yeh, you'll get no Quarter from me :)
- this is
good old fashioned role playing, and death is definately a possibilty.
I
wouldn't like to see it happen, but it can. That's to save you from
doing
something silly. With this, you'll definately think twice about that
Rambo
charge...
~~~ What does all that jargon mean with the die rolls? ~~~
Just in case you're interested, I list your base chance to hit first....well,
I didn't for the first few rolls, but I think I'll do it from now on.
- Then I add/subtract any modifiers - the deal with
the Stamina check is this: if you lose more than 25% of your Stamina, you
roll each turn d100. If it's greater than your current Stamina, you suffer
additional penalties.
- What is this OPPORTUNITY
SHOT? If a target is running, or popping his head up and down behind
cover, you can't take your full load of shots - there isn't enough time.
You only have time to get off a quick one, ONE shot, so that's what that
is about - since some of you are making them this turn...
- Then I list the modified column that I'll use
for your shot
- Then I give the die roll results - and the corresponding
damage. The amount of damage depends on what color in the chart your roll
falls in. I have a HTML version of the chart in the Combat section of the
page, if you want to look at it:
--- Deck 2 ---
Kah'liss sits in the pilot's chair of the shuttle,
waiting ...Seconds
ago, the chrono erupted in laser fire. The fight was definately on.
Yup, those Enforcer types have it easy, Kah'liss
ponders. Sure, they
might be getting shot at, maybe even recieve a massive type 2 burn
to the
the upper appendages, but at least they get to do something.
All I get to
do right now is sit here and wait. of course ... seeing as that
I /really/
like my body parts where they are ... well, I guess I can handle the
wait.
Kah'liss turns his head to look at the Yazarian,
watching his predatory
stance ... waiting to pounce. He thinks for a moment and then
returns to
pondering the idiosynchos of diaepheralribocarbonethanols,,,,
--- Deck 3 ---
In a moment's time Telgar considers the situation.
His arm was in bad
shape, that's for sure. But he was going to stand until the end, if
necessary. He quickly draws his pistol from its holster and speaks
aloud as
he takes aim.
Into his chronocom, Telgar yells quickly "Made contact and they're
not
friendly! Taken one down; three are left. We have one minor
injury, and my
arm has been shot bad. What's your statuses?"
[Turn 3]
Roll for Initiative:
Team - (5) +IM7 = 12
Enemy - (10) +IM6 = 16
Enemy has initiative
The Yazirian is surprised he missed his human opponent;
he was quick
indeed. He saw a flash and smiled to himself as he charged. He had
seen
lasers weapons malfunction before, even happened to him once or twice.
However, he did not pity the situation. He lunged with his Sonic Knife
against Raleigh, but missed.
Not missing a beat, the Yazirian turned back on
the human, who was
reaching for pistols on his belt. Too late, human, too late. He lunges
again
with his knife...
[DieRoll - Yazirian attack]
CS +3 with knife =
Roll
= 59 miss
Roll
= 63 miss
The human once again sidesteps the attack. The Yazirian's
eyes widen
just barely as he sees the pistols leave their holsters.
[DieRoll - Raleigh]
Base Column +1
Roll for wounds - (28) 1 above
current stamina - no penalty (missed by 1, but close enough for horseshoes
for me..)
-1 CS for firing two weapons
-- but hey, at least you get 4 shots.
Roll = 96 miss
Roll = 20 hit (Green dmg=30)
Roll = 37 miss
Raleigh had been in combat before, nothing new to
him there, but
nothing prepared him for this.
As soon as the flash bang went off he knew he was
out of his league.
For years he had had to hear of his older brothers exploits in the
war. How Dan had been at the battle of "Bigamore Dredge" in SWII.
How he had had to kill a Sathar with a field radio because he was out
of ammo. All that time he had only sat there in anger hating
his
brother for stealing the affections of his parents. He now wished his
brother where right here with that very field radio.
The battle had started well enough. Managing
to quickly shake off the
concussion of the flash bang, he regained his sights and watched, as
planned, the second man through the door was nearly cut in two.
Raleigh had been pumped by seeing that and quickly jerked on the
trigger of his laser rifle, firing round after round at the incoming
boarders...thats when everything went downhill.
Not a one of his shots seemed to hit, worse still,
his rifle exploded
in his hands sending burns up and down his arms and into his face.
Raleigh fell backwards, screaming in pain, a move that may very well
have saved his life as moments later a battle raged Yazirian lunged
past, just barely missing his jawline with a bladed weapon of some
sort.
Alot of things raced through Raleighs mind at that
moment. His
brother dropping that heavy field radio on the Sathars head, his
mother and father, everything that was important to him and that he
would ultimately lose if this "Monkey" had his way.
"No!" Raleigh continues stumbling back, somehow dodging
another assault from
the massive Yazirian. He draws his pistols as quickly as he can, hoping
these give a bit better performance than that damn rifle. Even as the
intimidating Yazirian lunges again, Raleigh does catch his attacker's
eyes.
They widen as they spot the now drawn pistols. Raleigh yanks angrily
on the
triggers, "Die you mother Fucker!!!"
The pistols erupt in laser fire, exploding into
the Yazirian. His
forward lunge continues, but it lacks the resolve of any attack. Raleigh
sidesteps as the large Yazirian collapses face first into the floor,
his
sonic knife slithering across the floor.
The Dralasite, confident his Yazirian friend will
finish off the human,
kneels and takes aim at the human taking cover at the airlock hatch.
[DieRoll - Dralasite]
-2CS for hard cover
Column 0
Roll
= 66 miss
Roll
= 43 miss
The wounded human smiles as he sees his shot hit Telgar.
He knew it was a good
shot, and that it was by luck he made it. He was hurting bad. But damn
those
two at the end of the corridor. It was personal now. He takes aim,
this time
at Gwarth, and fires.
[Die Roll - Human]
-2CS hard cover
[roll for Stamina check -
fail] -4CS
Column -4
Roll
= 21 hit (Yellow 9 dmg)
Roll
= 88 miss
Gwarth grimaces as a pulse of light smashes into
the wall next him. The wall took the bulk of the hit, but some of the blast
sizzled against him, burning his right arm. A nice pulse of pain tingled
up his shoulder, but he stared down the human who was fast becoming a pest.
[Die Roll - Gwarth]
Base Roll - +1
[Roll for Stamina check -
(85) fail] -1CS for 25% Stamina loss.
Column /0
Roll
= 39 miss
Roll
= 9 (Cobalt 48 dmg)
Gwarth steadies the rifle again and fires twice.
The first shot misses his mark, but he knows the second hit home when he
sees the forehead of the wounded human explode. There will be no more trouble
from him.
As Telgar takes quick aim, he sees Gwarth take
out the human. He then focuses on the Dralasite.
[DieRoll - Telgar]
Base Column +1
[Stamina check - pass] no
low Stamina penalty
-1 CS firing with wrong hand
Column /0
Roll
= 30 hit (Yellow dmg 15)
Roll
= 68 miss
Telgar sees his shot hit home, but it wasn't enough to drop the blob. How fast a battle turns, he muses quickly as he takes aim again...
--- Deck 2 ---
"Chugh" Zhirrzh cursed, ansering Telgar's call for
status. He keys his chrono and replies to Telgar. "No contact yet. Get
inside Engineering and bolt that airlock. Use the hatch in there to climb
up if you have to. If you use the one beside the elevator, with them after
you, you're toast."
Zhirrzh faces Brenon and Lyrium. "If they make it
up here, they'll likely come in during our fight." Zhirrzh frowns as an
especially dark thought surfaces. "At least, I hope it's during the fight.
If they get up here and try to enter before the boarding party enters,
they'll get a nasty surprise when we start tossing grenades. Everybody
keep a sharp eye out."
--- Deck 3 ---
[Turn 4]
Roll for Initiative:
Team
= 7 + (8) = 15
Enemy
= 6 + (6) = 12
The Dralasite, seeing the tide of battle turn drastically
against him, turns and darts to the relative safety of the airlock - at
least he'll have some cover. As he rushes to cover, he levels his pistol
Raleigh's way. Might as well get a shot off first...
Raleigh was faster on the draw. He raises his pistol
and fires.
[DieRoll - Raleigh]
Base Column +1
[Stamina check - pass] no
Sta penalty
Target Running -1CS
1 shot - Opportunity shot
Column /0
Roll
= 37 hit (Yellow dmg 15)
"Oh, no you don't!" Telgar yells to the retreating
Dralasite. He fires.
[DieRoll - Telgar]
Base Column +1
[Stamina check - pass] no
Sta penalty
Target Running -1CS
1 shot - Opportunity shot
Column /0
Roll
= 18 hit (Green dmg 30)
Gwarth isn't about to let the Dralasite take cover
either. He gets a shot off himself.
[DieRoll - Gwarth]
Base Column +1
[Stamina check - 63 fail]
-1CS for 25% Sta loss
Target Running -1 CS
Column 0
Roll
= 66 miss
The Dralasite never gets his chance to fire a shot. As he turns to run, three seperate laser blasts tear his way, 2 of them hitting him dead on. The force of the shots hurl him into the air, where he lands with a crunch against the airlock wall, lifeless.
Balou's voice booms on everyone's chrono, himself
reporting in. "Stu's down, we've got three of them. One left, with an albedo
screen. He's ducked in the airlock and we're just pot-shooting each other.
Probably calling for backup from his buddies, so Level 2 may want to keep
an eye out, I don't want to watch for rumrats sticking their heads out
of hatches too..."
[OOC]
The randomness of war, eh? I was really worried about you guys on Deck
3. But you pulled it out, and I didn't cheat on the die rolls at all. I
don't do that (as you can tell by the critical hit in the first shots of
the battle and that ^$#& rifle!)
Okay, another break point - Deck 3 doesn't have anyone else to shoot at!!! Let me know what you do and I'll continue again...
This is fun, huh? :)
Jeff
I've added this turn to the same "assault2" page on the site...
I've taken into consideration the time of this dialogue as opposed to the fight that is going on in Deck 1. So, other things happen that occur BEFORE all of your given actions take place. So read carefully....
[IC]
Raleigh props himself up on his elbows, still in
awe that he had
somehow come out the victor in that tangle. When that Yazirian
had
recovered and gotten the jump on him after the first attack Raleigh
figured he was a gonner for sure...hed have to take some more lessons
from Zhirrzh for sure now.
Suddenly a large figure rumbled past the airlock.
Raleigh could only
react as he brought the pistol to bare and fired a shot at the big
Dralasite. A howl of pain erupted from his target...he may not
be
dead but he sure isnt happy. A blink of an eye later, two more laser
blasts shot down the corridor, one of them hitting the Dralasite in the
center of his back. The force of the blow knocked the blob several meters
forward, sending him crashing into the floor.
Raleigh crawled back to his defensive position and
called out to his
teammates for status..."Everybody ok? Telgar, you get hit back
there?"
With that response, Raleigh's own burns remind him
of his anger for
the pirates.
Telgar watches as the last adversary falls.
Slowly, he grins inwardly
at the satisfaction of victory. He had done this many times before
in his
profession, and the thrill of defeating your enemy was always a welcome
feeling.
"Yeah, I took a bad one to the arm... you know you
fight very well for a
Techie! Sure you picked the right profession?" smiles as he replies
to
Raleigh.
Telgar speaks into his chronocom, "Deck Three cleared...
for now. Not
much left of these guys, we may need to mop later! I've taken
a serious
shot to my arm and will need medical attention. Other than that,
we are ok.
I will be returning to Deck Two via the hatch shortly. How is
everyone so
far? Deck One, how long do you think you can hold on up there?
We'll try
to get some guys up to you as soon as we can."
Speaking to Raleigh and Gwarth, "They may need help
up there. I figure
we can either do one of three things. One: You two can go to
the hallway in
Deck Two and attack any invaders from behind, if there are any there
yet;
Two: You two can go to Deck One and surprise the guys up there; or
Three:
You guys can come back with me to the cargo bay and reload before going
on
to any other fire fights. Either way, I'm going to need to go
get patched
up real quick. Raleigh, any ideas?"
Telgar waits to hear what Raleigh has to say, feeling
that Raleigh has
turned out to be more than what he had expected. He knows that
he will need
to make time to talk with Raleigh when all is said and done.
Friends are
always good to have in the career Telgar has chosen...
--- Deck 2 ---
Zhirrzh gives a silent breath of relief when he hears
Telgar's announcement. One group down, two to go. Zhirrzh keys his chronocom.
"Telgar, glad to hear you made it out alive. Still
no contact on Deck 2. If you decide to head into Deck 2, wait until the
fighting starts. We don't want to mistake you for a pirate when the airlock
opens. As soon as it starts, I'll give a yell to let you know. Then you
can come in with guns blazing if you like. Again, congrats on the victory
team. Zhirrzh out."
A few seconds later, your chrono comes to life again,
this time it's Nayden. "Balou's down, Electrostunner. It's only me up here..."
========================
Referee's Note
The looting of the dead guys hasn't quite taken place yet - Raleigh
had time to check the Yazirian. He's just found the sonic knife, an extra
power clip, the IR goggles, and a small headset. Hey, that'll probably
come in handy...
