Turn 1 Response 3, Sep. 1, 1998

>     Styonik's skin flickers with the reflection of the console before him.
>He reads the display and prompts Ryseak to examine it. The Yazirian
>peruses the display a few moments, then addresses the group. "It's been
>brought to my attention that the Weaponry and Defense budget, for you 7,
>has already exceeded 40,000 credits. Any further equipment in this
>category must be purchased as personal equipment. Streel is willing to
>advance up to 2,000 credits per contractor for such...customization.
>That's over 10% of everyone's pay. I'm sure you recognize that as a fair
>advancement..."
Zhirrzh nods to Ryseak, satisfied with his response, and waits for any further comments.
Lyrium nods again at the words and purses her lips lightly in thought. She
"hmms" very softly to herself and then makes another quick note at the
bottom of her pad. Her pale eyes glance up and around to see if anyone else
has something to add.
Telgar grins to himself. Brenon cocks back, leaning in his chair. His eyes quickly covering the list once more, he looks up, eye's briefly crossing Zhirrzh, then the rest of the group until they finally rest on Ryseak, as if awaiting further instruction. Kah'liss settles back and casually surveys the table and its members as he awaits the last of the questions and then the beginning of this little ... adventure.  Yes, quite interesting it will be....

Ryseak looks around the room at the party, waiting any additional comments. He then nods with a satisfying "Hmm." He nods to Styonik, who makes the compromise official in the records. "Good," he continues. "Then I suppose we are ready." He motions to the crew of the Serena Dawn, who are sitting at the center of the conference table. "After further preparations and loading, you'll be ready for the Zebulon System. You are scheduled for launch in two days. Second Evening, 10:00 hours. [OOC: Pale's days are 55 hours long, and divided into two 'work' days of 22 hours each. Second Evening refers to the night part of the day] Any personal  equipment should be purchased, and any...extracurricular activities you would like to get in should be enjoyed. Pale has plenty of things to do for fun." Ryseak smiles. "The majority of it's credit flow coming from mining means a lot of blue collars wanting to have a bit of fun after a hard day's work." The Yazirian nods to himself, then looks to the group again. "You'll be out of the loop for 90 days on an unchartered planet. Better get it out of your system now. I wish you the best of luck. I hope you will be able to locate the initial team and that all is well with them. Our resources have been drained due to the War, and you are their last hope. We've selected a wide variety of experience, hopefully enough to resolve any situations you come across.
"You will have the subspace radio in event of emergency. Remember that they require much energy per message, so only use it in the event you need extraction. You'll have enough SEU for about 5 messages total, but remember, better to send all 5 messages requesting help than the first 4 telling us you've landed safely; those mobile subspace communicators can be a bit tricky to pinpoint a planet 7 light years away."
Ryseak regards the group a few moments, silent. He then speaks. "That is all I have to say. If there are any further questions, now is the time. We will not see each other again; I believe Christina will be there to see you off at the Pale Interspace Port. Syonik and Sheila will also be there. I unfortunately must be off planet, on New Pale. Some more conferences on food trade going on. If there are no further questions, I bid you all the best of luck."
Christina looks up from her console. "We will send an escort of three skimmers to pick you and your equipment up in two days, Second Evening, 06:00 hours....If there are no more questions...good luck..."

Brenon exited the Hotel, mulling over the meeting in his mind. It seemed too good to be true, sure 90 days in unknown bush isn't a day at the park. But triple the pay and potential bonuses wasn't anything to laugh at either. You could do some serious damage with that many credits. Brenon looked around carefully, making sure no one could pick up his conversation; he looked at Zhirrzh and said in perfect Yazirian, "You know, this job could give us the means of securing our own operation. The things we could do.....we could run things our way. The right way." Zhirrzh replies, "Our combined income should be more than enough to start our own independent business; we could set our own pay. Seven years experience with the SMG has given us a respected reputation. Finding clientele shouldn't prove too difficult a problem." Brenon grinned and they headed off towards Grumblers Square, the notorious Pale Black Market.

Referee's Note:
If anyone has anything else to say, speak now or forever hold your peace.
Note that you DO NOT have this equipment yet...It will be loaded onto the Serena Dawn when you are ready to launch. So presently, you are empty handed.

I suggest shopping for personal equipment, things you want that was not provided by Streel. You do have an additional 2,000 credits should you want to use it. You have two days to kill. You can just tell me what you buy, or if you all want to get to know each other in some way, go ahead and suggest it.

You can carry on conversations amongst yourselves without waiting on me to provide the "official" turn. If you want to go anywhere or something, just specify it in your emails. You are all staying in the same hotel, so the Stargaze lounge may be a good introduction point.

We've heard nothing from two players...One, because he's been busy with buying a new house and all that comes with it. Another, because he's not entirely sure how to do this -- he assures me he's been reading it all. So, don't worry, jump on in, guys. If it's even to say "HELLO", just so we know you're out there. Most of the people playing here won't bite....most of them....

I'll give another week for a deadline on any responses. If I do not have another official turn out by then I'll just go with what's been said. If no one has done anything exciting, we'll assume you did not purchase any additional equipment and are ready to embark on the Serena Dawn.

That's it. Happy adventuring!
