Rather than further splice the conversations in, I will just continue
from here.
We're doing a bit of time travel, because alot of the conversation
has passed,
but you get the idea...
IC:
> Ryseak continues. "Being primarily a rescue
mission, a lot depends on
>what has already been mapped and discovered by
>the initial expedition." He motions to Lyrium. "However, Lyrium has
been
>hired for her Environmental background and has
>naming rights to all unclaimed or undiscovered flora, fauna, and animal
>life. Any new chemical or mineral elements
>discovered are claimed by Streel, but such remarkable finds will generate
a
>substantial bonus to the group as a whole.
Lyrium listens with interest to the others speak,
her slender forefinger
tapping lightly against her lips. She glances up at Ryseak at the mention
of
her name and nods slowly to the words spoken, assuring her understanding.
She
remains silent for the following conversations, her hand lowering as
she jots down a few notes from time to time, her eyes rising to regard
each
person as they speak in turn. She smiles lightly as Ryseak rebukes
Zhirrzh's requests and gives the explorer a slight grin as if to say
"Nice
try, though."
Zhirrzh sits quietly eyeing the group as Ryseak
rebukes his requests.
He notices Lyrium give him a slight grin and returns it with one of
his
own. Zhirrzh nods to Telgar at the mention of screens. "Actually,"
Zhirrzh
answers, "I was thinking of a Holo Screen with a camouflage feedback
loop
for myself. But since Telgar saw fit to mention them as well, I'd think
screens crossed each being's mind. I'm sure each has his or her own
idea
what is needed. As for the exoskeleton and sword..." Zhirrzh grins
again
at Lyrium. "They are indeed niceties, not necessities. As for what
you are
expecting on this mission, I'd have to say you haven't any _clear_
idea
what to expect." Zhirrzh raises a questioning eyebrow before continuing.
"Else why put together such a diverse team? This team, I'm sure, is
much
less expensive than sending in the military. I'm just trying to, as
the
humans say, 'cover all the bases.'"
Ryseak shrugs. "True, we have no _clear_
idea of what to expect.
Exactly to your point, that's why the diversity. A few Technicians
for any
equipment repair, an Environmentalist for planetary research, Medic
for
obvious reasons, and yes, a few Enforcers in case the cause of the
expedition's silence is something...more on the gruff side of things.
Again, we are not a Mercenary company. We do not take inventory in
Weapons
or Defenses. Precisely the reason we _hire_ outside contractors. We
have
provided military Skeinsuits for you. I may be able to acquire a few
screens, but I doubt the extra costs in purchasing camoflague feedback
loops for you cannot be justified. They completely double the cost
of
Holo-screens. "He turns to the Dralasite. "See what you can find on
screen
allocation. The team requests more than the Suits we have offered."
The
Dralasite nods and begins work on his console. Ryseak looks again back
to
Zhirrzh. "I do understand your requests, do not misinterpret me. If
it
were me I believe I would want the same thing." He switches to Yazirian.
"A rescuer does not want to be rescued." Continuing in Pan-Galactic,
"
However, we may hear back that it is not in the budget to shell out
another 14,000 credits on screens for everyone, on top of the fact
that
your pay for this mission is pretty inflated due to the potentially
hazardous environment you stand to face."
A soft chirping of beeps from Sheila's console.
She glances at the
glittering display a moment, then speaks. "Just been notified that
the
Subspace Radio has been approved and acquired from Techyad Communications
here on Pale. We will have it ready for you by departure."
Ryseak nods. "Good. Let's hope you will not
have to use it."
Styonik's skin flickers with the reflection
of the console before him.
He reads the display and prompts Ryseak to examine it. The Yazirian
peruses the display a few moments, then addresses the group. "It's
been
brought to my attention that the Weaponry and Defense budget, for you
7,
has already exceeded 40,000 credits. Any further equipment in this
category must be purchased as personal equipment. Streel is willing
to
advance up to 2,000 credits per contractor for such...customization.
That's over 10% of everyone's pay. I'm sure you recognize that as a
fair
advancement..."

Referee's Notes:
The briefing is coming along well...I don't have anything futher to
add,
if anyone has any suggestions, let me know, but it's seeming to flow
for
me. This is kinda neat! :)
