Stargaze Lounge

[IC]
Zhirrzh and Brenon make their way through the various shops, Zhirrzh really
wanting to get a hold of a Holo Screen with a camo feedback. Brenon chides
him jestfully over Streel's rejection, but Zhirrzh comments that this way
it's his; nothing to pay back. Same as the beltpack he's looking for. Maybe
he can strike a deal at Zonat's Outfitters...
    [Resolution Table roll: 95]
Zhirrzh gets no deal, but he does get his Holo Screen and beltpack  (2,250
credits) After their equipment hunt, the two work up a thirst. A good drink
before evening's end would be a proper closure...

[Stargaze Lounge]
8:30pm OOC time (21:30 Second Evening), Stargaze lounge

Sitting in one of the larger tables in the bar is the 4 crewmembers of the Serena Dawn, enjoying a few drinks. It will probably be a long night for them; they handled their business with Streel and are pretty much ready to go. To live up to Spacer's reputations, they'll probably close the place down tonight. In a few days, they'll load up and make the 7 day trip to the Zebulon System. Over some drinks they speak briefly about the team, occasionally glancing around to see if any of them would wander in. They thought the expedition was staying at this hotel as well. "Good pay for this one," they muse. "Should be an easy buck."
...Lyrium steps into the bar, and glances around. She gives the crew of
the Serena Dawn a slight
smile and a polite nod as she walks over. She gestures to an empty chair
and arches her brow slightly, "May I join you?"
The four members of the Serena Dawn look up and immediately welcome
Lyrium. This is obviously a crew that's seen their fair share of long nights
in the Frontier's Spacer bars. Lyrium sits
down in the chair and grins a bit more broadly, "What are we drinking then?
Anything strong?" Pale eyes regard the crew brightly as she waits for the
response.
"Anything strong?" answers Grynh. "I was not aware there was anything
else." There are a few grunts of agreement from the table. Lyrium 'hmms'
softly and glances around again, "Did any of you see The Yazarian, Zhirrzh
or the human Telgar, here yet tonight?"
Balou shrugs and glances about the bar briefly. "I don't believe so. You
are staying here, I assume? Not a bad place Streel put us up in. If only
they'd cover the tab tonight," he chuckles, waving down a passing waitress.
"Another round of Nmador Sours us, and  for....Lyrium, isn't it? I'm sure
your friends will pop in before the night's end."

Zhirrzh and Brenon walk into the Lounge and head straight for the bar.
"Two Yazirian ales," Zhirrzh requests. He glances around and notices the
crew of the Serena Dawn and Lyrium sitting at a large table. He pokes Brenon
in the ribs and motions to the group.
"I'm going to go talk to the team. Lyrium is the only one over with the
crew yet, but I expect the rest of the team to come in sooner or later."
    "I'm staying here." Brenon replies.
Zhirrzh frowns at Brenon then notices Telgar walk in. He watches as
Telgar looks briefly over the crowd, then stops at Lyrium and the crew of
the Serena Dawn. Zhirrzh hears the bartender set the drinks down and picks
his up as he watches Telgar walk over.
He takes a swallow and then realizes the Vrusk is not with Telgar.
"Where's that damn Vrusk of his?" Zhirrzh asks as he sets his drink back on
the bar.
Brenon puts down his drink and shrugs. "Hell if I know, or care. Bad
enough we have to have a damn bug on the mission, but does he have to be the
medic as well?"
"I thought the same thing. I noticed in Spuroke's bio that he has some
basic medical skills. That should be all we need."
"Just what I need." Brenon sighs. "A choice between a damn bug or a
Drasalite. What if the Dras's skills aren't enough?" Brenon asks.
"Then knock me unconscious so I don't have to watch him work on me."
Zhirrzh shakes his head and snarls softly. "I'll be damned if I'm going to
die though. 'Grin and bear it' as you humans say."
Brenon shakes his head as well.
"Enjoy your ale," Zhirrzh says. "I'm going to get to know the team."
Zhirrzh walks over to the table. "Mind if I join you?"

Lyrium glances up and grins at the Yazarian, "Sure, have a seat.." she
gestures to a nearby chair, and
then turning back points at the Captain of the ship, "So you wanna bet on
that, huh?" she chuckles, and glances to Zhirrzh, speaking in explanation,
"The good Captain here thinks he can make the trip in less time than we had
plotted for." She turns back to the crew and leans forward lightly on her
elbows, her smile a bit too eager, "How  much faster, and how much do you
want to wager?"
Grinning impishly she nudges Zhirrzh, and says in a obvious whisper, "You
in? We could probably make a nice lil profit off of this wager, and if we
lose, we still get there early, that gives us more time to look at the land
and possibly discover something new and useful."
Zhirrzh's eyes take on an expectant enthusiasm when Lyrium mentions
getting a look at the land. He leans over and whispers back to Lyrium,
"Sure, I've got a few credits left and am always looking for more." He
straightens and looks back to the captain. "So captain, what will it be?"
Grynh blows through his lips in disbelief. "You must have never heard of
the Serena Dawn? She’s a good ship. I’d be careful putting your credits down
against her." [OOC: where have I heard THAT line before?]
"Yeah, she made Dixon’s Star in 4 days once, Zebulon is about the same
distance. We should make it in 4, especially if there’s a wager in order,"
Balou brags. [OOC: I think I goofed on the distance earlier and said SEVEN
days. It is actually a FIVE day trip]. The Serena Dawn’s got some move in
her…has to; she survived a few tight spots with some New Pale
revolutionaries during the war. She’ll get us there in 4, with good ole
Grynh keeping an eye on the engines. What say a pool, say 100 Creds a
being?"

Kah'liss takes a moment to adjust to the strange environs that his
fellow companions have chosen to meet in.  He contemplates the usefulness of
such a location and the services it provides, coming to the conclusion that
only humans could invent such an ... inefficient location. Careful
observation does not reveal a location well suited for presentations or
comfortable relaxation.  Off in one corner, the actions of two human members
of opposing sexes convince him of one purpose it does suit.  With a slight
shake of his head, he moves toward the more familiar crowd he does know.
He stops as he reaches the section taken over by the crew of the Serena
Dawn and his fellow companions.  With a bow, he says, "It is a pleasure to
see all of you again.  Would it be of opposition if I did join you in this a
ct of sharing companionship?  I would be very gracious if I could be allowed
that opportunity."
Stu looks to Kah'liss. "Have a seat and drink happy, Vrusk," the
navigator welcomes. "Always room for more."
Kah'liss sits down, lowering his bulky abdomen into a reclining
position.  "Lyrium, I do hope that Telgar has not been too rambunctious in
my absence?  He has a small personality ... quirk? ... that interferes with
his self-control when in the presence of human females as engaging and
attractive as yourself."  His mandibles turn upward in a means to imitate a
smile, "I could not help but notice your list of achievements in the pursuit
of knowledge.  I am very secure in the knowledge that we have such a
competent lady as yourself on this endeavor.  Perhaps we could get together
sometime and discuss the theoretical researching of Garvin into the
biochemical reduction processes displayed in Sub-Teritus plants?"
Balou regards the Vrusk silently a moment, then glances to his
crewmembers. "Anyone ready for another Sour?"
Lyrium's pale eyes brighten at the statement of the crew and she turns eagerly to Zhirrzh, "Did you hear that? My, my, my we will have a wonderful flight. Either you and I win some money, or we hit the planet early, and the whole way, Kah'liss and I can discuss biochemical reduction processes. We can't lose." Her face alight with eager anticipation she taps her fingers on the table to draw back the Vrusk's attention, "Garvin is sort of old-school don't you think? I mean sure, he had some great ideas, but Maderson is so much more..modern.."
Kah'liss quickly devours the conversation offered by Lyrium, "Maderson does offer many interesting notations in his thesis papers, yet very little evidence. He uses a preponderance of intuitive leaps and jumbled metaphors to explain his theories. No hard facts are revealed to support these claims. Maderson does show promise, and I must admit that I am intrigued by his theories, but can never be taken seriously until he begins to offer more solid proof. The possibility that we could one day use nega-photo energy cells that would be near limitless in a binary reaction with normal plantlife to produce efficient and long-term power is ... almost ... magical? in it's allure. Even our dear pilot's would enjoy the temptation of a plant that could increase the speeds of their ship by twice its current rate, and require only 1% of the current maintenance."

Brenon orders another drink from the bar. He turns his head to take in
his surroundings and the people within it. His eyes finally rest upon
Telgar; noticing that Telgar's companion had possibly decided against
coming. At this Brenon takes his drink and heads towards the table
accomodating the Serena Dawn crew and her soon-to-be passengers. As Brenon
is closing the distance to the table he notices a Vrusk enter the lounge,
with apparently the same destination. Brenon slowed to a halt, pretending to
inspect something in his glass, yet eyes still held on the Vrusk.
"Damn....Telgar's bug friend......Kay'less", Brenon thought to himself.
Disgusted, Brenon turns and heads back to the bar, sits, and calls the
bartender, "Tender, I'll have a double Pale Spinner....."

Spuroke and Azad instantly recognize their soon to be team as they enter
the bar; they are the loud ones sitting in the center of the room,
confiscating extra tables as space necessitates. They approach the party and
are welcomed to the ever growing table. "I see the drinking has already
commenced," Azad begins. "We must catch up, Spuroke."
The Dralasite looks around and spots a Dralasite steam bath room at the
far end of the lounge. He takes note of it. Too bad the other races can't
enjoy their intoxicating effects. "Enjoy your drinks, I'll drive you to your
rooms when you're done." Azad smirks and orders a Truane's Ice.

Referee's Note:

The conversation continues at the table, the crew bringing up brave,
probably exaggerated stories with the Serena Dawn, and with whatever you
want to bring up. As a side note, these drinks aren't free and will run
about 5 credits a pop, so decide how much you want through this
entertainment -or how much you actually END up drinking -- Sheesh, I spent
HOW much!! :)

Any open ended conversations listed above can be continued on as well.
